First Step: Preparation Of The File
To promote schooling and meet the special educational needs of students with disabilities, everything is done to build a personalized schooling project ( PPS ) as operational as possible once the family has contacted the departmental center for disabled people ( MDPH ), a unique place intended to facilitate the procedures of people with disabilities.
Analyzing the needs and evaluating the pupil’s skills with a disability are decisive to begin school in the best conditions. The school, the family, and the referent teacher must act in partnership.

- registration and reception in the reference school or in the one to which the pupil has been directed

Second Step: Development Of The Personalized Schooling Project
From the needs identified, the multidisciplinary team of the departmental house for disabled people develops the personalized schooling plan ( PPS ) for the pupil with a disability, taking into account the child’s wishes or the teenager and his parents. Based on this project, the Commission for the Rights and Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities ( CDAPH ) then takes the necessary decisions. Article D 351-7 of the Education Code specifies the various choices which are the responsibility of the CDAPH.
The PPS is the management tool for the schooling process; it ensures the pupil’s school career with a disability.
It organizes and defines the schooling modalities coordinated with the measures allowing the accompaniment of this one and the pedagogical, educational, social, medical, and paramedical actions answering the pupil’s needs decided by the ( CDAPH ). Schooling can be individual or collective, in a familiar environment or a medico-social establishment.
The PPS defines the terms and conditions for the course of schooling by specifying, if necessary:
- the quality and nature of the support, in particular, therapeutic or rehabilitative
- the use of the individual or pooled human aid
- the use of appropriate teaching materials
- educational facilities
Third Step: Follow-Up and Support
An enrollment monitoring team (ESS) facilitates the implementation of the PPS and provides attentive and regular support for each student with a disability.
The referent teacher of each student brings together the monitoring team and ensures the continuity and consistency of the implementation of the PPS since he is the privileged interlocutor of the project’s actors. Present at all stages of the school career, he is competent to ensure the follow-up of the pupils’ task educated in the first and second degrees and the medico-social establishments. He brings together the schooling monitoring teams (ESS) for each of the pupils for whom he is the referent and ensures a permanent link with the multidisciplinary team of the MDPH.
