    IELTS Reading Test

Here are IELTS reading tips. First, we need to look at an overview so that we understand what the bulletin board is about. Let’s know some tips to score band big IELTS reading test for overseas study.

    Tips for IELTS Reading Test

    IELTS Reading Test Tips

Don’t Expect To Understand Every Word

Lots of scholar has learned to look up every word in a dictionary that they don’t understand in a dictionary. The theory behind this is good, a large vocabulary is essential for a good IELTS test score, but worrying about all the words you don’t understand on the reading test is one of the most horrible things you can do.

If you don’t understand a word from the reading test, you can do both. Also, you can look at the words and expression around it for clues about its sense or you can move on and forget about it. So, you don’t have to understand the importance of each phrase. Also, national speakers – and many IELTS educator – would not be able to understand all the words in the reading task.

Preparation Your Reading Skills NOT for IELTS Skills

It is important that you are familiar with the IELTS reading test, IELTS reading rule and understand the different questions. Also, it is also important to learn from your mistakes. Also, scholars who only preparation IELTS are missing a excellent opportunity to advance their general IELTS reading skills.

     Read the Instructions Very Carefully

So many easy grades are lost by good IELTS candidates because they do not read the instructions correctly. Also, this is especially true in listening and reading tasks as they give very specific commands. So, you don’t follow these orders faithfully, you’ll be asking the incorrect question.

For example, the directions might say write two words and/or a number. It could mean:

    • A word
    • A word and a number
    • Two words
    • Two words and a number

Still if a figure is written as a word, it counts as a number. E.g. Thirty-two is counted as 32. 30+2 cars is a word and a number. If you don’t do it as instructed, you will lose one point.

If the answer only asks for only 2 words and the respond is red and yellow. Red, yellow is two words. Red and yellow is 3 and consequently incorrect.

    Don’t Panic

Some questions will be easy and some extremely difficult. The key is not to panic when trying to answer a difficult question. Almost every IELTS teacher I know has to check the answers to some questions because they are so difficult.

The wrong thing to do is to spend a lot of time on one question and not spend enough time on the rest of the questions. If the answer does not show up, move on to the next one. Also, you can for all time come back to the difficult or hard questions later. Also, you answering the different-different questions will often help you.

Time and nerves must be controlled to pass the reading test. All the IELTS reading tips in the world won’t help you if you can’t control your nerves. You are probably not going to answer all the questions correctly and accepting this will help you control your time and your emotions on test day.

    It’s Really a Vocabulary Test

As a result, the reading test is more of a vocabulary test. They will use synonyms and paraphrased phrases to test your vocabulary range. To prepare for this, I advise my students to do three things: read, grade, and revise.

Then you have to put all your new words in a special IELTS vocabulary notebook. Record not only the meaning, but also things like synonyms, antonyms, collocations, form, examples, pronunciation, and images. You don’t have to register all of these things; just the ones that work for you. All of our brains work differently, so find out what helps you remember vocabulary and use it.

    Timing Is Crucial

If you spend too much time on one question, you will leave less time for other questions, however, if you try to take the test too quickly, you will run out of information and risk getting lost.

Everyone reads and answers questions at different speeds and in different styles, so figure out what works best for you and beware of people who tell you to spend a certain amount of time on each question.

Ignore Everything You Already Know About the Subject

The superior the level, the extra this problem affects the populace. Remember that you are only tested on your understanding of the text; your own knowledge of the subject should not influence your answers.

    Train Slow and Fast

Many educators recommend students prepare for the IELTS reading test “under exam circumstances”. It means you do the practice test in one hour without any help like in the exam. This is not more sensible advice for several reasons.

Be Careful When Forwarding Your Answers

In the examination, you will be asked to move your answers to an answer page. A common mistake is spending too much time reading and answering questions and leaving very little time to transfer answers. It’s natural for stupid mistakes to be made when people are under pressure.

    Leave No Blanks

This might seem like one of the most obvious IELTS reading tips, but you’d be surprised how many people leave blanks. Even if you don’t know the answer, be sure to answer every question.
